  • Andre Onana is back in England early after pulling out for Cameroon with an injury
  • The United goalkeeper remains a doubt ahead of his side's clash against Everton

Andre Onana’s injury and the potential integration of Altay Bayindir into the first team could be a blessing in disguise for Manchester United.

Onana had to be substituted in the 81st minute on October 17 as Cameroon secured a 3-0 victory over Mauritius, with the keeper appearing to injure himself while making a save.

The 27-year-old has since returned to England early for further assessments and remains a genuine doubt for Man United’s upcoming games.

As reported by the BBC, Onana - signed from Inter Milan for £47.2 million - has joined a growing injury list at Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag’s side is also without first-team players like Lisandro Martinez (foot), Casemiro (thigh), and Christian Eriksen (knee). These players are all out for the foreseeable future.

Altay Bayindir’s chance with United

Onana’s potential absence could open the door for Bayindir, who is yet to make a start for the team despite signing for United during the same transfer window as his Cameroonian counterpart.

Man United fans are still sceptical about the Turkish international, as they are yet to see him in action for the club.

However, Bayindir is a vital member of his national team and played the full 90 minutes as Turkey secured a famous 3-2 victory against Germany on the same weekend Onana got injured.

Highlights of the goalkeeper have since hit the internet, showing some traits United fans can look forward to if ten Hag gives him a chance.

One notable attribute he possesses is the ability to make saves with his feet, which was prevalent with United’s former keeper, David de Gea.

The goalie was also endorsed by Mehmet Özdilek, a former Turkey assistant coach, who told Milliyet:

"I also liked Altay Bayındır. His adventure in England improved Altay’s goalkeeping skills. He has great feet and added value to the game.
"If we try to explain them one by one, we may be doing an injustice to the players whose names we will forget. Today, there was a group of players who gave everything on the field and enjoyed the game they played. I congratulate them all wholeheartedly."

According to ESPN, the Turkish goalkeeper has also impressed United coaches in training, despite not playing a single minute of a competitive match.

The Red Devils' next game is a tricky Premier League away fixture against Everton on Sunday, November 26 and Bayindir could make his debut.

Arsenal's Rice: 'Price puts me under pressure'

Still, on news related to the Premier League, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice recently admitted his price tag of £105 million had placed him under pressure.

The Gunners broke the British transfer record by signing the West Ham skipper, with Chelsea eclipsing it by paying £115mil for Moises Caicedo weeks later.

As Sports Brief reported, Rice has already scored against Man United in the Gunners' recent 3-1 win, as well as the 2-2 draw against his former club, Chelsea.
