According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Man United had scouts at the Primera Liga contest to watch Neves, who has showed clear glimpses of promise.

Despite clear interest in the youngster, the Red Devils will reportedly not make a move for him until board changes are confirmed and things are far more settled.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is on the verge of buying a 25% stake in United and this will come with wholesome changes in the hierarchy from as high as the CEO position, which was recently vacated by Richard Arnold, as reported by Sky Sports.

Joao Neves’ compilation goes viral

Meanwhile, several videos have emerged on social media showing just how good Neves is in midfield.

Not only does the 19-year-old enjoy a good tackle, he appears to be a master at reading the game and breaking up play, especially during counter-attacks.

He also does not shy away from a midfield battle with opponents, despite being only 5 foot 9 inches.

Joao Neves’ background

The 19-year-old Portuguese prodigy has risen through the ranks at Benfica and helped the youth team win the UEFA Youth League in 2022, earning him a call-up to the first team at only 18.

Last season, he was crucial for Roger Schmidt’s side as they won the Primera Liga and got his chance to impress in January, when Enzo Fernandez moved to Chelsea for £107 million.

Chelsea on the ascendancy

Still on Premier League news, Sports Brief reported on Fernandez' new club Chelsea ascending amid the potential return of Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia.

Thanks to positive results against both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, Blues fans now believe the team is starting to integrate and finally turn the corner.

Statistics from the Premier League at this stage of the season also show that only the Citizens have created more chances than the West Londoners this season.
