The treble-winners from last season have teamed up with Xylem - an innovative water solutions company, and Cityzens Giving - a charity programme that supports young leaders through training and funding.

The winner of the Water Heroes Award will get a special visit from the club, including a legend. They will also receive training from the aforementioned partners and Man City coaches on the football and water education curriculum.

Water Heroes Award: Nairobi chapter

Pauline and Mercy, from Nairobi in Kenya, have been nominated for the award for their efforts in tackling period inequality and improving access to clean water and good hygiene.

"Water is at the root of everything. We need water to cook, clean and bathe. Every time a girl is experiencing her menses, she needs water to drink and to clean herself," said Pauline via Manchester City's website.

The Nairobi duo will receive competition from groups in Bangalore, Barranquilla, Tacloban City, and Washington D.C.

Tom Pitchon, the Director of Man City's football group foundation, has insisted all the nominees are already winners.

"Whilst this is a fantastic opportunity for one project to receive a special Club visit, we are proud of all the projects within the network that continue to make such an important impact through our work with Xylem. Vote now for the one that inspires you the most."

Launched in 2021, the 2023 voting period will run from November 3 to 17.
