Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew has been dropped by Ghana national team coach Chris Hughton as the manager released his squad for the international friendlies against the United States and Mexico.

Ayew is currently unattached after leaving English Premier League side Nottingham Forest at the end of last season, forcing the ex-Brighton manager to omit him from the team.

Meanwhile, Tariq Lamptey and Thomas Partey are returning to the squad after missing the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic.

Medeama SC left-back, Abdul Fatawu Hamidu was also included in the squad for the trip to the United States, as stated on the official website of the Ghana Football Association.

The Black Stars will face the Yankees on October 14, 2023, in Charlotte before playing Mexico three days later in Nashville.

The games will serve as preparatory matches ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as well as the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast next year.

The four-time African champions are hoping to end a four-decade trophy drought by winning the tournament next year.

The Black Stars are also eyeing a return to the FIFA World Cup after a poor showing in Qatar last year, as reported by citinewsroom.com.
