The Barcelona forward is reportedly closing in on a sensational loan move to Brighton.
The 20-year-old has struggled to get some playing time with the Catalan giants, having been named as a substitute in their first three games of the season.
Fati to the Premier League soon?
Barcelona, Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes, and his father, Bori, have been trying to convince the young star to go to another team on loan this season for him to play regular football.
Chelsea and Tottenham had both been linked with the Spanish star, but Brighton have emerged as surprise front-runners to complete the ambitious loan deal.
Brighton's Fati loan deal revealed
According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal is already in place between Barcelona and Brighton, and a verbal agreement with Fati is now done.
He added that there is a ''no buy option clause'' in the loan deal, which will run until June 2024. Also, the main part of Fati’s salary is covered by Brighton.
Toni Juanmarti reported that the Premier League side will cover 70 to 75 percent of Fati’s salary for this season.
Romano also reported that Fati’s travel has been booked on Thursday and that Brighton would want to conclude the loan deal as soon as possible.
Fati's injury struggles at Barca
Fati has struggled to get regular playing time since recovering from various hamstring and knee problems ahead of the 2022/23 season, per ESPN.
He finally was healthy last season, making 51 appearances for Barca. The majority of those, however, came with Fati as a substitute, much to his frustration.
