  • Arsenal capitulated and lost an eight-point advantage to Manchester City in the EPL title race
  • The team can take consolation in making the Champions League for the first time since 2016
  • Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his squad and go again next season over multiple competitions

Arsenal had a bittersweet season - they can talk about apparent progress in the team, but the Gunners were trophyless in what appears to be their best season in years.

They ceded an eight-point advantage to Manchester City in the title race and lost a golden opportunity to win their first Premier League title since the 2004 'Invincibles'.

Mikel Arteta is already looking at reinforcements to ease the process next season, as Chelsea and Liverpool try to put their bad campaigns behind them and return to the top.

Sports Brief looks at six players likely to move to the Emirates Stadium as predicted by artificial intelligence (AI), via Sun Sports:

1. Declan Rice

West Ham United's Europa Conference League-winning captain, Declan Rice, will leave the club and Arsenal are forerunners for his signature. The Athletic reports the Gunners have submitted two bids, both of which have been rejected, as they fell below the £100 million asking price.

Manchester City and Chelsea are reportedly nursing interest in the Hammers' skipper, and Arsenal will have to hasten to avoid another Mudryk situation - where Chelsea hijacked the Ukrainian just before he came on board.

2. Kai Havertz

Fans have not received news of the Gunners' interest in the German star well. Daily Express reports that a second bid worth £60mil, including add-ons, has been sent to Chelsea after the first was rejected, with their rivals willing to lower their demands by 10 million.

3. Moussa Diaby

Bayer Leverkusen winger, Moussa Diaby, has a valuation of £65mil. Still, Arteta and Edu are trying to negotiate for a lower fee, with long-term Gunners midfielder, Granit Xhaka, also set to join the Bundesliga outfit.

4. Ilkay Gundogan

The Man City captain’s contract runs in nine days, and no agreement has been reached. Arsenal are interested in adding the 32-year-old's qualities and experience to their young side. However, they face competition from Barcelona.

5. Mason Mount

Chelsea's English midfielder is reportedly preferred to Havertz, but Arteta understands his preference is Man United if he leaves Stamford Bridge. The deal is cold as of the moment due to his £85mil valuation.

6. Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The Gunners expressed interest in the English forward early this year but made no move. Rising star, Folarin Balogun, is expected to leave as he is not guaranteed a starting berth and does not want another loan. Calvert-Lewin is predicted by AI to be his replacement.

Sports Brief also reported that AI predicted Man United's likeliest signings, including priority targets, Harry Kane and Mason Mount.

The Red Devils are yet to lift a finger in the market and are said to have cooled their interest in some big names due to their large fees.
