  • Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement to sign another new star
  • Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram is now highly likely to join the Reds
  • Jurgen Klopp’s side has seen a number of departures in the midfield

Liverpool are reportedly closing in on their second signing of the season in the form of Nice midfielder, Khephren Thuram.

The Frenchman has reportedly been on Liverpool’s radar since January 2022, and Jurgen Klopp’s side is now set to make an official move for his services.

Talks are reportedly underway between the Reds and Nice as the two parties try to find common ground in terms of transfer fees.

According to Footballtransfers.com, the French team are looking to maximise the 22-year-old’s value, but the English side have already reached a verbal agreement with Thuram’s representatives.

Paris Saint-Germain are already said to have approached Thuram, but Nice were unwilling to accept because the Parisians wanted an instalment-type deal.

Klopp is said to be a huge fan of the Frenchman, who is a great interceptor of the ball in midfield. According to Transfermkt, his value currently sits at £27 million.

Liverpool have already started revamping their midfield after signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, after activating the Argentine’s £35 mil release clause.

Other targets on Liverpool's list

Thuram is not the only player on Liverpool’s radar, as the Reds also have several big names on their shortlist.

One such player is Manu Kone, another Frenchman who currently plays in midfield for Borussia Mönchengladbach. Valued at £30 mil, he is also wanted by Chelsea and Newcastle United.

Another player on the Reds' list is 19-year-old Roméo Lavia, who is currently with relegated side, Southampton. The Saints want £50 mil for the Belgian but it is highly unlikely he will go for such a hefty fee.

Liverpool sign Brighton's Mac Allister

Sports Brief also reported on the surprising fee Liverpool paid for Alexis Mac Allister, whose value skyrocketed after the 2022/23 campaign.

He was a key figure in Brighton's effort to secure European qualification, but the Reds have landed him for what many called a bargain.

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City were all linked with the midfielder, who will now turn out for the Anfield outfit next term.
