In a video shared on social media, the group chanted and sang in celebration of their European qualification.

Aston Villa are making a return to Europe for the first time since the 2010/11 season. The clarets last won the English Premier League in 1981.

The Ghana Lions AVFC are located in Juabeng in the Ashanti Region of Ghana and spend their weekends supporting the clubs 1000 miles away.

How the group was formed

Owusu Boakye Amando founded the Ghana Lions AVFC few years ago due to his love for the club, which was passed onto him by his grandfather.

“My love for Aston Villa started when we were kids,” he said, as quoted by GiveMeSport. “My grandfather used to talk about lots of players, but there was a certain player he used to talk about most. He always talked about ‘God, God, God’.
“So one day, I asked him, ‘Grandpa, who is this God you always talk about?’ He said ‘there is only one God, but there is also a God in football and his name is Paul McGrath’.”

Martinez wants Messi at Villa

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Emiliano Martinez, with a playful tone, has pledged to utilise every means at his disposal to lure Lionel Messi to Aston Villa.

Martinez, who tasted World Cup glory alongside Messi in 2022, made his comments on the back of seeing his revered international teammate come in for criticism from PSG supporters.

The World Cup-winning goalkeeper went as far as to declare that he would willingly accept a reduction in his salary if it meant being able to cover the substantial wages of his Argentine compatriot.
