  • Lionel Messi's wife, Antonella Roccuzzo is reportedly unconvinced about moving to Saudi Arabia
  • Messi's future is up in the air with his contract at Paris Saint-Germain ending in two months' time
  • He could follow Cristiano Ronaldo to the Middle East by signing for Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal

Lionel Messi's potential move to Saudi Arabia has received a subtle blow, with his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo reportedly hesitant about the deal.

Messi has received a mega offer from Al-Hilal in a deal believed to be valued at least 400 million euros per year, to ditch European football for the Middle East.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this season.

Messi is currently suspended after he made an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia earlier this month, with his two-year contract in the French capital running out in June.

His feasible options include going to Saudi Arabia or moving back to Barcelona. However, the latter will be difficult as La Blaugurana are yet to find a way to fully comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and manage their debt crisis.

The Middle East option has now also encountered a setback, with Goal reporting that Messi's wife is not sold on the idea.

Roccuzzo is said to be hesitant about moving with their three young sons, while L'Equipe adds that the veteran himself would prefer to stay in Europe.

Messi's archrival for the last fifteen years, Cristiano Ronaldo recently moved to Saudi Arabia when he joined Al-Nassr in January.

Messi's chat with Barcelona's Lewandowski

Sports Brief has also reported on Messi taking time off from scooping important awards at the Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony to chat with Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona fans were more thrilled when a video popped up online showing the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner engaged in a lengthy conversation with the Polish captain.

Messi could rejoin Camp Nou in a fairy-tale return this summer, with the Argentine World Cup winner being heavily linked to a Barca return once his PSG contract concludes.
