  • Gary Neville has lauded Mikel Arteta on his decision to drop Thomas Partey
  • Partey has not started in Arsenal's last two games
  • Jorginho has been preferred over the Ghana international

Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville has praised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for dropping Thomas Partey from the starting line up in the games against Chelsea and Newcastle United.

Partey struggled in the last three games prior to the Chelsea and Newcastle United matches.

Arteta preferred former Chelsea midfielder Jorginho over Partey in his last two matches and that seemed to work for Arsenal, with victories over the Blues and the Magpies.

“I thought they might get eaten alive [on Sunday vs Newcastle]. The atmosphere was ferocious. Arsenal grew up here a lot,” he told Sky Sports, as quoted by 3Sports.

“Mikel Arteta deserves a lot of credit for picking Jorginho. Many would have said get Thomas Partey back in there. The class Martin Odegaard showed in the first 30 minutes was outstanding.
“Jorginho composed his teammates and guided them. (Gabriel) Martinelli and (Bukayo) Saka are still not at their best but the composure from Odegaard and Jorginho was there for all to see."

Partey has been blamed for the draw at West Ham following a mistake which led to the Hammers first goal.

Partey opens up on Adebayor's legacy

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey believes former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor will be remembered by fans of the club for his celebration against the Gunners at the Etihad.

Adebayor spent three years at Arsenal, playing 104 matches and scoring 46 goals for the Gunners before moving to Manchester City in 2009.

During his time at City in the 2009/10 campaign, the Togo legend scored against his former club and celebrated wildly in front of Arsenal fans at the Etihad.

Partey trolls Manchester United

Thomas Partey mocked Manchester United after their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United, following the resumption of the English Premier League after the international break.

Almost a day before United's defat, Partey starred for Arsenal as the Gunners defeated Leeds United 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

During his hangout with Ghanaian journalist, Nana Aba Anamoah in London, the player was captured trolling the Red Devils in a video currently circulating.
