Paintsil's outstanding form continued in the play-off after he served up an assist in the 2-2 draw against Sporting Charleroi over the weekend.

The former Tema Youth attacker moved to Europe in 2017, where he spent a season on loan at Ferencvarosi before a permanent switch to Genk in 2018. Paintsil is reportedly worth £10 million.

Paintsil dedicates winner to father

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Paintsil paying tribute to his father with a match-winner for KRC Genk in their game against Anderlecht.

The Black Stars winger was in his home country to pay his final respects to his beloved dad, who passed away on November 18, 2022.

Barely two days after the funeral, the 25-year-old immediately left for Belgium to join his teammates for their important Cup tie.

Sports Brief also reported on Otto Addo announcing his 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

At a press conference in Accra, the 47-year-old named his team with several notable names making the cut.

Conspicuously missing were Paintsil of KRC Genk, Majeed Ashimeru of Anderlecht, and Felix Afena-Gyan.
