  • Frank Lampard has received a major shot in the arm ahead of facing Real Madrid on April 12
  • The caretaker manager will welcome back three of Chelsea's finest stars from injury layoffs
  • The Blues will approach the game bereft of confidence amid a lacklustre domestic campaign

Chelsea have received a timely triple injury boost ahead of their Champions League quarter-final first-leg encounter against Real Madrid.

The Blues will play the record champions at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Wednesday evening, looking to put their domestic issues behind them.

It has been Chelsea's worst season in recent times by their own lofty standards and the marquee European trophy presents their only chance at redemption.

Caretaker manager and club legend, Frank Lampard knows it won't be a stroll in the park because should they see off the Los Blancos, they will come up against another European heavyweight in either Bayern Munich or Manchester City in the semi-finals.

Luckily, his plans have received a major boost after Thiago Silva, N'Golo Kante, and Mason Mount were all cleared to play a part in the encounter.

Silva has been out since February 26, where he sustained a knee injury in Chelsea's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Kante, meanwhile, recently made his return after a long hamstring injury layoff. He was rested in the 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend.

Mount, on the other hand, has been battling a muscle issue and hasn't featured entirely in Chelsea's last seven games.

"They are all fit. They are all in the squad. The three players you mentioned are good and are here," Lampard said, as quoted by Football London.

The three players could all easily walk into Lampard's starting XI. Silva's return could help Chelsea put an end to the high number of goals they have conceded in his absence.

Kante, meanwhile, showed his class last week against Liverpool and would be expected to go toe to toe with Real Madrid's robust midfield.

Mount was Lampard's most important player during his first spell at Chelsea and if he can get his confidence going, he can get the creativity his team direly needs upfront.

Rudiger previews Chelsea vs Madrid

Sports Brief also reported on Antonio Rudiger taking a dig at Chelsea, saying the team is 'nothing like the Champions League winning squad'.

The German is set to face his old club for the first time since departing, when the Blues face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Rudiger left the English club on a free transfer at the end of last season and has since affirmed his place in Carlo Ancelotti's backline.
