  • Erik Ten Hag was critical of the current scheduling of matches after Marcus Rashford’s injury setback
  • Rashford had to be withdrawn in the 78th minute against Everton on Saturday, April 8
  • The inury setback comes just days before United face Sevilla in the Europa League

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag has been left furious with the current scheduling of matches after his top scorer Marcus Rashford suffered what appeared to be a groin injury on Saturday.

Rashford hobbled off moments after assisting his teammate Anthony Martial with a goal, and Ten Hag was quizzed after the match on the extent of his forward’s injury.

"I can't say in this moment, I'm not a doctor. We have to wait how bad or how good it is. Obviously he went off and we have to wait for the diagnosis and we will see." He said as quoted on Sky Sports.

Rashford has been among the most consistent players for United this season, missing only two of the 47 games his club has featured in so far.

There is a possibility United could play 65 games this campaign if they reach the finals of the FA Cup and Europa League.

Crammed schedule

The game against Everton came barely 72 hours after a late night fixture against Brentford, which Rashford helped secure all three points for his side with a solitary goal.

Ten Hag, in his post-match presser, did not hold back in his criticism of the scheduling as he subtly blamed he matches for Rashford’s injury.

"Some things you can't avoid, but this was avoidable," He said.
"Why has the Premier League given us the late Sunday night game and the early Saturday game? I think it's not right.”
