Super Eagles star, Sadiq Umar, could leave Real Sociedad at the end of the season with a Madrid-based club reportedly planning a summer move for the Nigerian striker.

The striker joined Sociedad from Almeria in 2022 but failed to cement a place in the starting line-up, with coach Imanol Alguaci preferring Spanish international, Mikel Oyarzabal.

The former AS Roma striker has featured in 36 games for the Basque club across all competitions this season and has found the back of the net thrice, also providing one assist.

This season, the Nigerian international started 12 out of 26 appearances in the Spanish La Liga, the only competition in which the 27-year-old has scored.

According to a report by Noventa FC, as per Soccernet, Getafe are said to be interested in signing Sadiq on loan in the summer.

The Madrid-based club are set to lose Manchester United loanee, Mason Greenwood, with other European sides showing interest in the English striker.

Getafe are said to be considering replacing the Englishman with Sadiq next season, and it could be a perfect move for the Super Eagles striker.

Los Azulones could also lose Turkish striker, Enes Unal, in the summer, as he is presently doing well on loan at Premier League side, Bournemouth.

Sadiq among underperforming Nigerian attackers in Europe

Sports Brief also previously listed Sadiq among the underperforming Nigerian attackers in Europe this season, with many of these forwards enduring a frustrating campaign.

While some, like Victor Boniface, have enjoyed moments of success in front of the goal, the same cannot be said for others who have struggled through the 2023-24 season.

Sadiq and Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho stand out for both continuing to endure reduced playing time and their worst goal-scoring droughts with their respective clubs.
