  • Manchester United beat Brentford to win their first Premier League game in four attempts
  • Marcus Rashford was the difference between the two sides, notching his 15th goal of the campaign
  • Bruno Fernandes provided a comical relief by kicking David de Gea while he received treatment

Erik ten Hag got his revenge over Thomas Frank as Manchester United beat Brentford in a midweek Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

Brentford swept aside ten Hag in his second game in England after a lacklustre first-half performance saw the Red Devils concede four goals in the first 35 minutes.

However, a Marcus Rashford strike in the first half was enough to ensure Manchester United got the bragging rights this time round to keep up the pressure on Newcastle in the race for third.

Fans also noticed Bruno Fernandes kicking David de Gea, albeit jokingly after the Spanish goalkeeper went down.

Fernandes kick on De Gea

Fernandes has been United's captain for long periods of time this season following Harry Maguire's relegation to the bench.

De Gea thwarted Kevin Schade's effort on goal and picked up an injury in the process. As he was being tended to by medical personnel, Fernandes walked over to him and gave him a couple of kicks.

Fans online have interpreted the act as Fernades nudging De Gea to get up and carry on. Luckily for him, his collision with Schade did not leave long-lasting damage.

Ten Hag's charges will now focus on the early kick-off game against Everton on Saturday as Brentford entertain Newcastle.

United plans major summer overhaul

Sports Brief has also reported that several big names at Manchester United have their future in danger, as Erik ten Hag reportedly plots a mass clear-out at the club in the summer.

The Red Devils are reportedly keen on more outgoings than incomings in the summer and among those on the chopping block is embattled defender, Harry Maguire.

United will also listen to offers for backup goalkeeper, Dean Henderson. Brandon Williams, Alex Telles, and Anthony Martial will also be made available in the summer, as will Eric Bailly, who is currently on loan at French club, Marseille.
