  • Cristiano Ronaldo ended his mini goal-scoring drought in Al-Nassr's 2-1 win against Abha
  • It was the first time the former Manchester United forward had scored a freekick in many years
  • The 38-year-old now has nine goals in his last eight games in the Saudi top flight

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a long-range freekick as Al-Nassr staged a dramatic fightback win against Abha to keep their title aspirations alive.

The 38-year-old's screamer and Anderson Talisca's penalty ensured Rudi Garcia's charges rendered Abdulfattah Adam's first-half strike into a consolation in an enthralling encounter at the Mrsool park.

Al-Nassr was pressured to respond accordingly, with league leaders Al Ittihad easily dispatching Al-Fateh in the early kickoff fixture.

However, the home side suffered a huge scare after just seven minutes, but their blushes were saved by the Video Assistant Referee, which ruled out Nawaf Al Aqidi's goal.

The decision did not deter Abha as their consistent probe yielded the game's first goal through Adam, who notched his fourth goal of the campaign after 26 minutes.

Ronaldo leads fightback win

Rudi Garcia will ring the changes at half-time to alter the destiny of the game for the home side, but they had to wait till the 79th minute when talisman Cristiano Ronaldo produced a goal from the top drawer, per Mirror.

The Portuguese phenomenon's fiercely struck a freekick which flew through the human wall before breezing past the hapless goalkeeper to level the score and, most importantly, bring Al-Nassr level.

Ronaldo's strike partner, Anderson Talisca, will put the cherry on the cake when he coolly slotted from the penalty spot to complete the comeback.

The results mean Al-Nassr trail league leaders Al-Ittihad by a single point with nine games to spare.

Fans claim Ronaldo is ageing

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has turned social media upside down, with multiple user reactions trickling in.

Ronaldo, whose professional career has spanned almost two decades, made the odd yet lucrative move to join Saudi club Al-Nassr after falling out with the rank and file of Manchester United.

A photo of Ronaldo, which suggest the Portuguese phenomenon is nearing the end of his career, has sparked massive reactions from social media users.
