  • Heung Min Son revealed he struggles to see with his protective mask on
  • The South Korean has been wearing the mask for nearly two months after suffering a nose injury prior to the World Cup
  • He claims he only wears the mask to appease his parents, who are worried about him

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung Min has come out to reveal he genuinely struggles to play with the protective mask which he has been wearing for several weeks now.

Son fractured an eye socket a few weeks to the start of the Qatar World Cup, prompting him to wear the infamous mask.

The 30-year old only lasted 20 minutes with the mask on New Years day as Tottenham succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa and played the rest of the match without the protective equipment.

Against Crystal Palace, Son emphatically took off the mask as he celebrated his goal as Spurs struck four goals at Selhurst Park.

As per SportBible, Son has now come out to reveal he does not actually see the ball when he has his mask on.

“Obviously, it’s not the same as when I play without the mask.” He told The Standard.
“My vision is still okay, but when the ball is coming to me, it’s sometimes annoying, because I can’t see the ball because of the mask. It’s not really bothering me, but it’s not the best.
“Against Villa, I was really frustrated, because I received the ball and then suddenly I lost the ball, because I couldn’t see it. I was just angry.”

The former Bayer Leverkusen winger went on to reveal he primarily wears the mask because his folks are concerned for his safety.

“If I’m alone, obviously, I would play without the mask, but my parents, my family, my friends watching back in South Korea are all worried. Obviously, it’s a risk if someone hits me again.” He added.

On Saturday, January 7, Spurs beat Portsmouth 1-0 in the FA Cup third round, with Kane getting the only goal of the game.

Son was slightly guilty of some lackluster performances, and one of his trademark shots in the first half curled hopelessly wide.

Eric Bailly with horror tackle

Sports Brief also reported on how Eric Bailly was shown a red card for a brutal challenge in their Coupe de France game against Hyeres on Saturday afternoon.

Les Phocéens were reduced to ten men after Ivory Coast centre-back Bailly was sent off after a bad tackle on Moussa N’Diaye inside the opening 15 minutes.

Bailly channelled his inner Nigel de Jong with a shocking high boot to the chest of N'Diaye in the early stages of the game.
