Normally, when you start off your professional career, you dream of moments where you can make instant impacts. And if it happens to come on the big stage, the better.

For 17-year-old Liverpool youngster Ben Doak, his Premier League debut couldn't have come at a better time. Doak was sent on by Head Coach Jurgen Klopp in the 88th minute with the game practically wrapped up.

Liverpool were leading 3-1 against Aston Villa at Villa Park. Doak's introduction was one of the feel-good substitutions coaches do to introduce a young player to the grand stage. No pressure, just amass a few minutes of competing with professionals with longer experience than you.

But it's either Doak had other ideas or the word pressure doesn't exist in his dictionary. The forward left Luca Digne thinking about his life choices with a sublime dummy seconds after coming on.

Digne is heavily experienced having played for top guns like Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona plus the national senior team of France.

Merseyside derby renewed

However, that experience counted for nothing as Doak turned him inside out with a dummy leaving him sprawling on the floor. And even better, Digne is a former Everton man and thus the Merseyside rivalry was revisited in Birmingham.

Doak was bought from Celtic in March and has already been used by Klopp in Carabao matches.

Liverpool won courtesy of goals from Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and another teenager Stefan Bajčetić.

Darwin Nunez answers critics

At the same time, Darwin Nunez has responded to critics after he put in another mixed performance at Villa Park on December 26th.

Sports Brief reported that Liverpool beat Aston Villa to restart their Premier League campaign on a high note after an unconvincing first spell before the World Cup break.

he game was however marked by another uninspiring performance in front of goal from Nunez. The Uruguay international had questionable decision-making skills with fans lashing out at him.
