  • Players from Liverpool FC took some time off to enjoy the sandy deserts of Dubai
  • The Reds are in the Middle East for the mid-season break ahead of league returns
  • Jurgen Klopp and his wards face a clash against Manchester City in the EFL Cup

Liverpool players engaged in some much-needed bonding in the United Arab Emirates, ahead of the return of domestic football.

The Reds have not had the best start to the 2022/23 season, and currently lie sixth with 22 points, seven off the top four places.

One factor that may have led to the slow start is the unfamiliarity within the team, especially with so many young faces graduating to first-team football.

Combine that with new signings in the summer, and one would see Liverpool players definitely needs some time to bond and get familiar with each other off the pitch.

Images seen by Sports Brief show Reds duo Kostas Tsimikas and Mohamed Salah riding a camel in the desert, without a care in the world.

In another shot shared on the Liverpool social media page, Spanish goalkeeper Adrian shares a photo of himself alongside Tsimikas, Salah, Thiago, Darwin Nunez, Arthur, Roberto Firmino, Fabio Carvalho and academy shot-stopper Marcelo Pitaluga.

Nunez also linked up with the rest of his teammates, after Uruguay’s disappointing World Cup run that ended in a group stage exit.

The sight of the players unwinding will certainly be welcome by fans, who will surely be aware that it is not easy to train in the grueling Dubai heat.

Fixtures for Liverpool

The Reds will play a friendly against AC Milan on Friday, December 16, before their return to competitive action against Manchester City on Thursday, December 22.

Their first Premier League game after the mid-season World Cup break will be against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Another player who returned to the Liverpool camp immediately after a World Cup heartbreak was captain Jordan Henderson.

As Sports Brief reported, images have since surfaced showing Henderson involved in a warm welcome with his club boss, as the team prepares to come back from the mid-season break.

The 32-year-old was an integral part of England’s squad in Qatar, as the Three Lions went past the group stage and the Round of 16 before a painful exit at the hands of France.
