Experienced French tactician Zinedine Zidane is reportedly among the candidates shortlisted for the Brazil job.

The Brazil managerial role fell vacant following the departure of Tite who parted ways with the team after a frustrating World Cup campaign.

The Samba Boys were widely touted as the favourites to lift the tournament in Qatar due to the team's array of talent and experienced players.

However, the South American football giants suffered a heartbreaking elimination in the quarter-finals after they lost to Croatia in post-match penalties.

According to the Daily Mail, Brazil's poor World Cup outing saw Tite step down from his role, leaving the country's federation with no choice but to hunt for a replacement.

Zidane linked with Brazil role

Reports in France now claim that Zidane is among the favourites to take charge of the South American country's national football team.

The 50-year-old is currently out of work after he dumped La Liga giants Real Madrid in May 2021.

French publication L'Equipe reports that the Brazilian FA is keen to appoint a foreign coach and has identified Zidane among the possible candidates.

Other experienced managers who have been linked with the position include Jose Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino, and Thomas Tuchel.

Ex-Brazil coach robbed after WC heartbreak

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on how former Brazil coach Tite was confronted by a robber in Rio de Janeiro days after Brazil's exit from the World Cup.

The incident happened at 6 am with the thief snatching Tite's chain before confronting him about Brazil's troubles in Qatar.

Tite resigned immediately after his side were knocked out at the quarterfinal stage by 2018 finalists Croatia.
