  • Olivier Giroud is not letting it slide after Australian player Jason Cummings trolled him
  • Cummings failed to swap jerseys with the French player and then laughed at his English
  • Giroud hit back at Cummings with a question to the player he had exchanged jerseys with

The Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup may have ended, but some after-drama is still ongoing.

Players are returning to their clubs and getting quizzed by journalists, and some of their interviews have been rib-cracking and dramatic.

France missed out on defending the title they had won four years ago, losing to Argentina 4-2 on penalties after a pulsating 120 minutes, where the scoreline was tied at 3-3.

The French players, especially Kylian Mbappe, have been subject to trolls from the media and even colleagues.

Olivier Giroud has now hit back at an Australian player from the opening day match.

Jason Cummings trolled both Giroud and Mbappe for not swapping jerseys with him, but the AC Milan striker hit back in a rather hilarious way.

What Jason Cummings said

Cummings revealed he wanted a shirt swap with Mbappe, but claimed the kit man returned his jersey and said the French star was not interested. The Australian then met Giroud, who he said walked past him like he did not speak English.

He made this know on Australian TV show The Project, quoted by The Sun:

“Giroud, please man, can I get your shirt, man? I’m a big fan, can I get your shirt? He just walked past me, pretended he never spoke English! And he’s been in the Premier League for 10 years! He just walked right past me!” Cummings said.

How Olivier Giroud responded

The former Arsenal star, after learning what Cummings had said, took to Twitter and posted a picture of the jersey he received from Australian player Jackson Irvine when they swapped shirts after the game.

FFF reports Martinez over trolling

Sports Brief earlier reported that France's football association has written to the Argentina FA, laying a complaint against Emiliano Martinez over 'excessive trolling' of Mbappe.

The goalkeeper, an expert at saving penalties, was beaten three times by the 24-year-old from the spot, and appears to have a new mission to humiliate Mbappe amid Argentina's triumph.

In the team dressing, the Aston Villa shot-stopper called for a minute of silence for Mbappe, and put a picture of the Frenchman's face on a teddy bear seen during the country's World Cup parade.
