  • Martinez has been adjudged to have gone overboard with his taunting of Kylian Mbappe
  • Mbappe bagged a hat-trick against Martinez but it was not enough to win the World Cup

France's football association has lodged a complaint with their Argentina counterparts, over extremely passionate celebrations after their World Cup win.

Argentina beat France in the Qatar World Cup final to win their first world cup trophy since 1986. Zealous celebrations followed, with specific taunts aimed at Kylian Mbappe irking the France FA.

GFFN reports that France's FA President, Noël Le Graët has written to the head of Argentina's FA, Claudio Tapia to complain about Emi Martinez's behaviour.

Martinez has been spotted and filmed mocking the PSG forward in the course of La Albiceleste's celebrations. Le Graet has termed Martinez's celebrations as 'abnormal excesses.'

What did Martinez do?

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Argentina goalkeeper Martinez had taken his squabble with Mbappe a notch higher, after he aimed a brutal dig at the France star during the trophy parade in Buenos Aires.

Martinez played a key part in Argentina's triumph at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he won the Golden Glove Award.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper pulled off a point-blank save in the last second of extra time to thwart Randal Kolo Muani's effort that could have sealed the game for Les Bleus. He then went on to save Kingsley Coman's penalty as La Albiceleste won 4-2 to be crowned champions.

Martinez trolls Mbappe

Despite winning the trophy, Mbappe ended up putting four goals past Martinez, including three from the spot. However, the shot-stopper was filmed trolling the Paris Saint-Germain star in the dressing room where he called for a minute of silence.

In Buenos Aires, Martinez was seen holding a doll with Mbappe's picture on it, as the players engaged with fans in an open-bus parade.

Le Graet has also revealed that they have taken legal action against those who racially abused Aurelien Tchouameni and Kolo Muani after the final.
