The former Player was born on September 3, 1970, in Watford, England, to Clive and Barbara. He is a Virgo. In terms of his nationality, he is English and of Caucasian descent. The three lions manager has been passionate about football and aspired to play professionally.

Who did Gareth Southgate play for?

The England manager played for the club's youth team for several years before being promoted to Crystal Palace's first team in 1988. The former player participated in 152 league games from 1988 to 1995, scoring 15 goals.

He came to Aston Villa in 1995 and signed a $3 million contract. He was made into a centre-back and joined the club's powerful defence. He made a strong start at Aston, winning the League Cup and steering the squad toward the UEFA Cup. He didn't miss a single Premier League game during the 1998-1999 season.

After receiving his first call-up to England national team, he made his national football team debut as a substitute against Portugal in December 1995. He also competed for his country in the "Euro 2000" and "1998 FIFA World Cup" tournaments.

On October 14, 1998, he scored his first goal against Luxembourg and later scored another international goal for his country on May 22, 2003, during a friendly match against South Africa. He received 57 England caps.

Coaching Career

He agreed to his first contract as Middlesbrough's head coach in June 2006. His most notable managerial triumph came in May 2008 when he defeated Manchester City 8-1. He left his club manager position on October 20, 2009. He later signed a three-year contract to head the England U-21 squad in August 2013.

On September 27, 2016, he was appointed interim head coach of the England national team following the resignation of Sam Allardyce. Following a 2-0 victory against Malta in his debut match, England went on to draw 0-0 with Slovenia, defeat Scotland 3-0, and tie 2-2 with Spain despite being up 2-0 and giving up 2 goals in the 89th and 96th minutes.

He signed a 4-year contract to manage the England national team on November 30, 2016. In November 2021, he signed a contract until 2024. He is England's head coach at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, leading a team that includes Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, James Maddison, and others.
