Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has made his prediction for the Premier League top four, with a fiery warning to Manchester United and Chelsea.

The 2022/23 Premier League season is slowly taking shape, with Arsenal still topping the charts on 28 points.

Only two points separate the Gunners and second-placed Manchester City, who are desperate to retain the English title at the end of the season.

Man United meanwhile, are down to sixth with 20 points after they dropped points during their trip to Stamford Bridge.

With Man City and Arsenal pretty much in control of the title race, attention is shifting to the ever-competitive top-four battle.

Emmanuel Petit's top-four prediction

According to Petit, City are primed to reclaim the league title ahead of Arsenal, who he believes will manage a second-place finish.

The Frenchman has backed Liverpool to finish third despite their disastrous start to the new season, with the fourth spot being battled by four teams.

Petit contends Man United, Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle will have to battle it out for the last Champions League spot, with Newcastle potentially pipping the three to the slot.

"Manchester City will obviously make the top four. Then behind them I think Arsenal and Liverpool will be there, which leaves four clubs, for me, battling for fourth spot," Petit told Ladbrokes via Metro UK.
"I’ll throw a surprise in there and say Newcastle finish fourth," he reckoned.

Supercomputer makes EPL prediction

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Manchester City have been backed to defend the Premier League title successfully this season.

Pep Guardiola's charges are facing stiff competition from Arsenal for the English crown, with the Gunners currently topping the charts.

However, a supercomputer has predicted that the north Londoners are likely to retain the position as the season progresses.
