Senegalese TikTok sensation Khaby Lame has been named the 2022 FIFA World Cup Brand Ambassador for the biggest bank in the Middle East and Africa, Qatar National Bank (QNB).

The announcement was made at the headquarters of the bank in Qatar ahead of the global showpiece, which kicks off on November 20.

The partnership is expected to help expand the QNB Group’s status as the official Middle East and Africa Supporter of the FIFA World Cup.

It was gathered that Lame, who has over 150 million followers on TikTok, is the most followed person in the world on the digital APP, as he also featured in his debut television commercial with QNB Group.

Reacting to the deal, Lame said, as per The African Dream:

“I am happy to be QNB’s ambassador during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. I believe that I am very similar to QNB, I set my dreams and achieve the impossible. İ look forward to explore the tournament through QNB’s lens and to make unforgettable memories."

The commercial explored the theme of “dreaming big,” which underpins QNB Group’s participation in this year’s FIFA World Cup tournament.

Lewandowski to show solidarity for Ukraine at World Cup

Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski will show solidarity with Ukraine at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November as the Barcelona striker, who captains the Polish national team, will wear a captain's armband with the Ukrainian colours on it.

Lewandowski was presented with the special armband by legendary Ukrainian player Andriy Shevchenko.

The two strikers met at the National Stadium in Poland, where Shevchenko handed over the yellow and blue armband to Lewandowski to wear for the tournament.

Messi says Qatar World Cup will be his last

Sports Brief earlier reported that seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, Lionel Messi, has announced that the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will be his last.

The Argentina and Paris Saint Germain star is hoping to lead his country to their first World Cup trophy since 1986 when Diego Maradona led the South Americans to victory.

The 36-year-old and his Argentina team have been in incredible form ahead of the tournament in Qatar, having won the Copa America last year.
