- Jose Mourinho has picked former Barcelona and Real Madrid star Ronaldo as his greatest of all time

- The former Man United star claims Messi and Ronaldo have not done as much as the two time World Cup winning striker

- The 43-year-old scored 47 goals in 49 appearances for Barca during his one year reign at Camp Nou

Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has excluded the duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi from his greatest of all time stars.

Both players have dominated world football in the last decade - winning five ballon d'Or awards each among several other individual and collective titles.

But despite the achievements of the two in the sport in the last ten years, Mourinho does not feel either of the two is worthy to bear the tag 'greatest of all time'.

The Portuguese born tactician instead opted for a player he encountered in the early stage of his coaching career.

The 43-year-old spent just one season at the Camp Nou before moving to Real Madrid, and later to Inter Milan.

During his short spell at the Catalan club, he scored 47 goals in 49 appearances and won three titles in the process.

Mourinho claims Ronaldo and Messi are the greatest of all time when it comes to ballon d'Or, while naming the former Brazilian star his 'GOAT'.

"Ronaldo, El Fenomeno, Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi have had longer careers, they have remained at the top every day for 15 years,” Mourinho told LiveScore.. However, if we are talking strictly about talent and skill, nobody surpasses Ronaldo [Nazario]. When he was at Barcelona with Bobby Robson, I realised that he was the best player I'd ever seen take to the field.

Mourinho went on to speak on Ronaldo's injuries which he says ultimately killed his hopes of rising to the very top of his game.

"Injuries killed a career that could have been even more incredible, but the talent that that 19-year-old boy had was something incredible. In 1997, Barcelona played against PSG in Rotterdam and Ronaldo's goal, 1-0. Awesome.”

Although, Messi and Ronaldo have produced better stats since then in the last decade but Mourinho clearly feels the Brazilian deserves the 'GOAT' tag.

Ronaldo is assured of a place among the all-time greats, regardless of where he sits on that list, with his stunning CV including 352 goals at club level and 62 in 98 appearances for his country.
