  • Vicky Lopez, who joined Barcelona from Real Madrid, remains eligible to play for the Super Falcons of Nigeria

Spanish-born Nigerian teen sensation, Vicky Lopez, is raising eyebrows following her prolific goal-scoring record.

The 16-year-old reportedly scored 60 goals in 17 games for Real Madrid CFF during the 2020/21 Youth League season to earn her a big move to Barcelona.

According to OJB Sport, the youngster is not ruling out representing Nigeria in future because of her love for the country despite playing for Spain at youth levels.

Vicky Lopez joined Barcelona after the 2020/21 campaign and in an interview with her former brands manager, the talented teenager idolizes Nigeria forward Asistat Oshoala, her senior teammate at the Bluagrana.

“Vicky loves Nigeria, she used to tell us back then. It’s funny because then, she told us meeting Asisat would be a dream come true for her. But now they are teammates," Joshua King Dada said as quoted by OBJ Sport.

Lopez, whose mother is Nigerian, can still play for the Super Falcons in future but that will heavily depend on the effort by the Football Federation.

“Last week she was summoned to train with Spain U17s, Nigeria is still an option but no one from the Federation has contacted us," her dad said, according to allsoccernigeria.com.
“There might be problems for Nigeria to call her up in the future. It would make Vicky very excited if she receives a call-up to play for Nigeria, but it is very likely that in September she will be called up for the Women’s U17 EURO qualifiers," he added.

Super Falcons celebrate after qualifying for the World Cup

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Players of the Super Falcons of Nigeria have been spotted dancing in joyous mood after beating Cameroon 1-0 on Thursday night, 14 July, in the quarterfinal of the 2022 AWCON in Morocco.

Nigerian players went into this encounter with great determination knowing fully well that winning the tie will give them the 2023 World Cup ticket.

And they did themselves lots of good by winning the encounter as Atlético de Madrid star Rasheedat Ajibade scored the only goal that gave the Super Falcons the win over Cameroon.
