“After the announcement of the 2023 Carling Knockout Cup, our long-time partners, SAB, were eager to come back as a Cup Sponsor, but unfortunately the constraints imposed by the World Cup calendar did not allow this in 2022.
“This was welcomed by the Executive Committee, especially for the partner that has been so good at marketing and positioning football in the country and would be great for spectators to have a window-view of what would happen in the 2023 Knockout Cup season.”

Kaizer Chiefs Twitter account admin responds hilariously to Mamelodi Sundowns trolling Carling Black Label Cup

Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns' rivalry became spicier by way of social media.

In 2018, the Brazilians' Twitter account ruthlessly trolled the Amakhosi's trophy drought, which at that point was three years long, Sports Brief reported. It has since increased to seven years of frustration for South Africa's former "cup kings".

Four years after the troll tweet, the Amakhosi's social media manager could only respond with the famous meme of the instrumentalist James Poyser, who tried holding back a laugh on the American television programme The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
