Morocco was chosen as the venue for the final despite a Moroccan team still being in the final, KingFUT reported. The decision has drawn a lot of criticism from football fans and even Al Alhy coach, Pitso Mosimane.

Mosimane took to Twitter to question the decision, The Citizen noted. While Mosimane merely questioned the decision, fans on social media were much more scathing and accused CAF of being corrupt and being in the pocket of the Moroccan Football Federation.

Here's how social media has responded to the calls for corruption to stop at CAF.

@midomido19962

"#Stop the corruption of the Confederation of African Football. We want everyone who cares about football in the world to stand in solidarity with the principle of fair play and for the CAF Champions League final to be held in a neutral stadium."

@mohamedfares07:

"Clear corruption From CAF , history will not forget that Patrice Motsepe brought shame to Africa"

@Velile_Mnyandu:

"CAF President Patrice Motsepe is being unfairly criticized on this decision of the #TotalEnergiesCAFCL final. He had actually delayed the announcement after the majority members of the Exco bizarrely voted for Morocco. This is an indication that African football will never change"

@MegallyPeter:

"We were blindly optimistic when Patrice Motsepe took over the charge of CAF. Unfortunately, days proved us wrong! We’re no better than Amr Fahmy who gave up everything just to reveal your federation’s corruption!"

Some fans have pointed out though that many of the tweets have come from Egyptian accounts and repeat the same phrase as if there was a script sent out. They also questioned why Motsepe was targeted when EXCO made the decision on the venue.

CAF confirm that Champions League final will be held in Morocco, Pitso Mosimane unhappy with the decision

The venue for the 2021/22 CAF Champions League final has been decided, but Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane is not happy with the decision made by CAF, Sports Brief earlier reported.

CAF released a statement confirming that Morocco will host the final at the end of the month, despite a Moroccan team being on the verge of qualifying for the final. The final will be held on 30 May.

CAF went ahead with the decision despite Al Ahly asking that a more neutral venue be selected for the final. Al Ahly sent a letter to CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, asking that the last be hosted in a country that didn’t have a representative in the final four.
