  • Pep Guardiola failed to win the Champions League for Manchester City in his sixth attempt and he has been criticised
  • Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra claimed the Spanish manager likes to be the leader in his team
  • According to Evra, the Man City boss cannot train players with personality and it is the reason the Etihad side are having problems

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has berated Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, saying the tactician is unable to train players with personality.

The Frenchman, in his brutal remarks, claimed that the former Barcelona manager does not want leaders in his squad and that he replicated that during his time with the Spanish giants.

Evra made the comments in the wake of City’s Champions League exit against Real Madrid where they capitulated and conceded three goals in 11 minutes to lose 6-5 on aggregate, Marca reports.

City returned to winning ways on Sunday defeating Newcastle United 5-0 as they are now in pole position to win the Premier League title this season.

The Citizens are now three points clear of second-placed Liverpool with three games left to play in the English topflight, but Evra is unimpressed with Guardiola’s style of management.

He told Prime Video as per SPORTbible:

"Manchester City needs leaders, but Guardiola doesn't want leaders. He doesn't want personality. He's the leader.
"That's why when they're in trouble they don't want to. They don't have anyone on the pitch to help them."

Evra added:

"He chooses his teams like that, he can't train people with personality. He did it at Barcelona, but he builds his team to control everyone.
"When things go wrong, he always decides."

Haaland poised to join Manchester City

Meanwhile, Erling Haaland has finally made a decision on where he will be playing his club football next season following several transfer bids from top European clubs.

The Norwegian striker who joined Borussia Dortmund in 2020 from RB Salzburg is regarded as one of the best forwards in world football.

Haaland has agreed with terms to join Manchester City in the summer after being impressed with the role he has been offered by Pep Guardiola in his team.

Kylian Mbappe spotted in Madrid

Sports Brief earlier reported that Paris Saint-Germain fans have been plunged into a panic after an alleged photo of Kylian Mbappe packing up his belongings leaked.

Mbappe has been the subject of transfer speculation, with reports suggesting the French ace could dump PSG for a dream move to Real Madrid in the summer.

The World Cup-winning star who will be out of contract at Parc des Princes is yet to renew his deal with the newly-crowned French giants.
