As reported by KickOff, the entire first-team squad have refused to participate in first-team training sessions over the issue of salaries. The South African Football Players Union Deputy Secretary-General, Calvin Motloung, confirmed the news to the publication.

"Players are not receiving their salaries at Swallows which is something that has been happening since November last year," he said.

Motloung added that they did have a meeting with club management over the issue and promises were made that players would be paid. However, some of the players have still not been paid since December last year.

Motloung added that other players were owed their salaries for March and April while a few were owed salaries from February.

The matter has since been referred to the Premier Soccer League. Management have agreed to rectify the situation but players have refused to train until they are paid their money.

Players have reportedly refused to attend training from Saturday after their game against SuperSport United. Swallows fought back to earn a draw against SuperSport United, Sowetan LIVE reported.

Swallows CEO Sipho Xulu has since denied any knowledge of the protest by players. He admitted that there are issues over salaries but that the club were attending to it.

DStv Premiership match wrap: Supersport United and Moroka Swallows entertain in high scoring draw (highlights)

SuperSport United and Moroka Swallows proved that the DStv Premiership can be an entertaining league as they played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Tshwane, Sports Brief earlier reported.

Goals from Kegan Johannes and Iqraam Rayners for Matsatsantsa and Ruzaigh Gamildien with Dillon Solomons for the Dube Birds set up a four-goal thriller. The draw did not benefit Swallows as they remained in the relegation mire.

SuperSport United missed the chance to entrench themselves in the top eight. SuperSport next takes on another relegation-threatened team in the form of Baroka FC next Saturday. On the same afternoon, Swallows will entertain Chippa United.
