  • Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo's actions following his substitution by interim coach Arthur Zwane have thrown social media into a flap
  • Ngcobo refused to shake Zwane's hand after being substituted not long after making a mistake which led to a Golden Arrows goal
  • What got football fans enraged in division was when Ngcobo was confronted by goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter

Battle lines have been drawn among football fans regarding the incident yesterday involving Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo, interim coach Arthur Zwane and goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter.

After being substituted following a poor performance in the 2-1 loss to Golden Arrows, Ngcobo angrily walked past Zwane, who held out his hand for a handshake. After seeing this, Baxter went to Ngcobo to confront him about this petulance, before grabbing him in an attempt to get him to apologise to Zwane.

A scuffle ensued between the two, before some of the Chiefs players stepped in to separate them.

The incident has been a hot topic of discussion, with those making their feelings known picking a side in the matter.

@MabasoNaldo responded:

"@ThabisoTema Lee Baxter is a coach, too. He is a member of technical team who can intervene in any situation that may require a coach. Example: advice head coach on tactics (it will be up to Zwane to take it or not). So if a player misbehaves... he was right to confront him."

@MaanoMadima said:

"This is not an anomaly. We have seen it countless of times and the issue gets resolved behind closed doors. Lee Baxter lacked the emotional intelligence to diffuse the situation. You do not manhandle someone that is emotionally charged in an attempt to calm them down."

@PatrioticGaffer said:

"[Stuart] Baxter was right about him. I guess there are many cases like that during training."

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane addresses Njabulo Ngcobo incident in Golden Arrows loss

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Arthur Zwane has given his thoughts on what transpired between him and defender Njabulo Ngcobo during the 2-1 loss to Golden Arrows yesterday.

As reported by Sports Brief, Ngcobo walked past Zwane in a huff after being substituted, refusing to shake his hand.

This appeared to upset goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter who went to confront Ngcobo for being disrespectful, before the other players on the bench calmed the irate Ngcobo.
