  • Otto Addo has said the Black Stars if Ghana could defeat any team in the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar
  • The Black Stars returned to the global showpiece after a 1-1 drawn game against Nigeria in the play-off games
  • Otto Addo will lead play Portugal in the opening Group H clash, before facing South Korea and Uruguay

Interim Black Stars coach Otto Addo has praised Ghana's World Cup group opponents but believes his side can beat any team in the world at their best.

Ghana makes a return to the Mundial after missing out on the last edition and will want to make amends for their 8-year hiatus at the global showpiece.

The West African nation have been placed in Group H alongside Portugal, former World champions Uruguay and Asian giants South Korea.

With less than seven months before the kick-off of the Mundial in the Arab country, the 46-year-old believes his side can beat any side.

“If we’re at 100%, we can beat anyone,” the former Ghana international winger, who played for the Black Stars at the 2006 World Cup, said as reported by CAFOnline as quoted by GhanaWeb.
"I think it is difficult and I have not really taken a critical look at the group but in football, everything is possible than in cup games because there are big teams in Divisions One and Third Division," he added.

The Black Stars will have to dig deep and find the form that helped them navigate through the group stages in 2006 and 2014.

Coming up against Portugal in their first game, Ghana will have revenge on their minds after succumbing to the Europeans in 2014.

Again revenge will be on the minds of the West Africans when they lock horns against Uruguay, who denied Ghana from becoming the first African side to reach the semifinals of the World Cup in 2010.

Against the Korea Republic, Ghana would have nostalgic memories against the Asians despite not facing them in tournaments before.

Black Stars Coach Otto Addo Opens Up on Mohammed Salisu’s Reluctance to Play for Ghana

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that caretaker manager of the Black Stars Otto Addo has shed light on Mohammed Salisu's unavailability for the senior men's national team.

Following Black Stars' recent qualification to the 2022 World Cup, football fans in the West African nation have been divided on whether the country should continue in pursuit of the Southampton guardsman.

Salisu has been a top target for the Ghana Football Association, who have made several attempts to lure the former Real Valladolid defender to play for the Black Stars.
