Since his father is a military man, the midfielder grew up in the military cantonment in Ikeja, Lagos. He started playing football at the Command Children school before joining Nathaniel Boys Academy to continue his passion.

The footballer made his debut for Genk in January 2015 as a centre-half. After that, he became a regular first-team player for the club, thanks to his exceptional skills in long-range passing and cracking shots.
