Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has been recognized as the best goalkeeper in the Dutch Eredivisie for the month of March.

The 22-year-old Sparta Rotterdam shot-stopper was listed as part of the best 11 players for the past month after an impressive display in March for the relegation battlers.

According to a report via Soccernet, Maduka Okoye has kept his clean sheet in two games in the Eredivisie with his best performance coming against Vitesse in a game that was not finished due to crowd trouble.

The Nigerian goalkeeper is joined in the top eleven alongside Ajax's Haller and Gravenberch, Zahavi, and Max from PSV, Pleguezuelo, Pröpper, and Joshua Brenet from FC Twente.

Also on the list is Luuk Brouwers from Go Ahead Eagles, Jesper Karlsson from AZ , and Michael de Leeuw from FC Groningen completes the line up.

Individual award good news for Okoye

Meanwhile, winning the Eredivisie goalkeeper of the month award will come as good news for Maduka Okoye who missed Nigeria's crucial World Cup play-offs against Ghana.

According to Goal, fans of the Super Eagles fans had alleged the Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper faked illness to miss the Ghana showdown.

The Super Eagles had failed in their attempt to qualify for Qatar 2022 after they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Black Stars with Nigeria losing on the away goals rule.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Super Eagles' number one goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been left unimpressed after he was forced to pull out of Nigeria vs Ghana play-offs.

Okoye has been ruled out of the Super Eagles' World Cup double-header play-offs against the Black Stars after he tested positive for COVID-19 as he has been replaced with John Noble.

Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble has landed at the camp of the three-time African champions despite suffering an injury in the last game against Wikki Tourists and has joined the squad to Kumasi.
