  • Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool “cannot do much more” in their quest to convince Mohammed Salah to pen a new deal with the club
  • The Egyptian’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2023, and he has been linked with a move away from Anfield
  • The arrival of Luis Diaz in January seems to have plunged Mo Salah’s future at Liverpool into further doubt

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted he is running out of ways to convince Mohammed Salah to pen a new deal with the club.

Salah is out of contract at Anfield at the end of next season, and the Liverpool boss disclosed that the Egyptian had neither confirmed nor rejected a new deal.

This season, Salah has been in typical scintillating form, scoring 27 goals in 34 games so far.

He is the frontrunner to win the golden boot once again and has been instrumental for his side in their race to win the quadruple this season.

While speaking at his press conference on Friday, March 11, Klopp was asked about the Salah situation, and whether the signing of Luis Diaz in January did something to convince him to stay.

"Mo definitely expects this club to be ambitious,” Klopp said as per Express.Uk
"Of course we cannot do much more but I don't think it's about that. It's Mo's decision pretty much.”
"The club did what the club can do. That's how it is, nothing bad to say about it.
"It's all fine, from my point of view it's exactly like it should be in this moment in time.

Liverpool’s next game

For their next game, the Reds travel to the Annex stadium to play an unpredictable Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Reds are breathing down their rivals Manchester City’s necks as they sit second on the log with 63 points, six behind Guardiola’s team who have played a game more.

Klopp's future at Liverpool

As far as Klopp’s future at Anfield is concerned, he revealed that he is almost certain to leave the club in 2024 when his current contract runs out.

At the moment, the German is enjoying a purple patch in his Liverpool career after an initial slow start when he took over in 2015, having won the Premier League and Champions League in the last two years.

As Sports Brief reported, Klopp’s new deal, which runs out in two years, was signed in 2019 and at the moment, Klopp has no intentions of renewing it.
