  • Juventus are reportedly unwilling to go on with Aaron Ramsey and the club is ready to rip up his current contract, which runs until 2023
  • Ramsey was loaned out to Rangers in the Scotland top tier, but has struggled with injuries
  • Ross Wilson, Rangers' sporting director, made it clear the club was not going to make the loan transfer permanent

Aaron Ramsey looks set to be a free agent as Juventus are reportedly gearing up to terminate his contract at the end of the season.

The former Arsenal man has struggled for minutes since Massimiliano Allegri returned to the Allianz arena and he was eventually shipped off on loan to Scottish giants Rangers.

However, with Rangers, he has only made one start and it is unlikely he will be made a permanent signing after his loan deal comes to an end.

According to Calciomercato, cited in The Mirror, Juventus are now prepared to rip up Ramsey’s contract.

The Italian club reportedly attempted to get Ramsey out of his contract before the loan move to Rangers.

Ramsey has struggled with injuries since moving to Turin from Arsenal in the summer of 2019.

He is currently in contract until 2023, but his spell as an Old Lady could end early and Rangers are unwilling to go on with him beyond this season.

Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson recently made clear the club’s stance on the possibility of a permanent transfer.

With Rangers, the Welsh star missed his fourth game in a row through injury as the defending champions beat St Johnstone.

Rangers coach Giovanni Van Bronckhorst also hinted at Ramsey’s plight in a recent interview, saying:

"I don't have a clear timeline. Hopefully he can join the team very soon,”
"But it's football - you will almost never get an ideal scenario as a coach," Giovanni Van Bronckhorst said on the player's situation.

Ramsey was not the only midfielder to leave Juventus in January 2022 as Rodrigo Bentancur also joined Tottenham as they brought in Denis Zakaria.

Rangers in intense battle for title

Meanwhile, Rangers are embroiled in a bitter fight for the Scottish title as they attempt to replicate what they did last season.

They are currently three points behind league leaders Celtic and have changed managers mid-season after Steven Gerrard left to become Aston Villa manager.
