Hearts of Oak SC stadium

Their stadium is Accra Sports Stadium, located at the heart of Ghana in the City of Accra. It has a seating capacity of 40,000. It was built in 1962 and renovated in 2004. It was later rebuilt, upgraded, and modernized in 2007 to meet FIFA standards as it was a designated venue for the 2008 AFCON.

In 2001, Africa's worst footballing disaster occurred where 127 people died. During a match between rivals Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. Trouble started when supporters of Asante Kotoko began ripping out seats in an act of hooliganism in protest at a goal allowed by the referee.

The club is mainly owned by people who have bought shares in the team. The chairman of the club is Togbe Afede. He plans to make sure the club is run smoothly and is debt-free. In a briefing, he said,

Our promise is, notwithstanding all of these developments by way of infrastructure, to make Accra Hearts of Oak debt-free by the end of the year. Because the major shareholders of the club who have invested so much money in all these facilities will be happy to convert all that is owed to them into shares.
"Hearts of Oak will be a very unique club in this context. Almost every club in the world is in difficulty."

Hearts of Oak SC coach

The club's coach is Samuel Boadu. He signed a 3 year deal with the club on March 1st, 2021. He was handed the task of winning the league in his first season and securing a spot in the CAF Champions League. He had a difficult start to the season and had the following to say amid fears of his sacking,

"There is no pressure on me at all. This is the nature of our job; coaches are hired to be fired, so if the team is underperforming, I don't think the management will be happy to see the team go down."

Hearts of Oak SC history

The club was founded in 1911 and is the oldest club in Ghana. Its home colours are red, yellow and blue. They won their first major match in 1922 when the Accra Football League was founded. They went on to win six of the 12 editions of the cup.

They also won the Gold Coast Club Competition in 1953, which was later rebranded to the Ghana Premier League. They remain the only African club to win the continental treble. The year 2000 was the club's most successful year, having won the Ghana Premier League, Ghana F.A. Cup, and the CAF Champions League.
