Started in 1943 in Lamontville, The Abafana Bes'thende (The Backheel Boys) have had an elusive stay at the PSL and they have been relegated once. They have won a few cups and hope to get more in the coming seasons. Their squad is young but has a mix of experienced players.

Their stadium is the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium. It was built in 2010. The stadium has a 6500 seating capacity.

Golden Arrows owner

Their owner is Mato Madlala. She also acts as the chairperson of the team and serves as the CEO of the PSL. The owner believes in her team and fans and has not incorporated any sponsors into their kits. In an interview, she said,

"When it comes to a technical sponsor, no-one will use me for that. I can't allow a situation where someone will give me two shorts and two golf T-shirts and a tracksuit and inform me that I must buy 1 000 replicas. If you calculate the amount that I will use to buy these replicas, it is massive. It's bigger than the sponsorship that they are offering to me."

Their captain is Matome Trevor Mathiane. He was born on 21st October 1988 in Limpopo, South Africa. He is a center-back and dons the number 20 jersey. He has played for the team since 2013, having a total of 114 appearances and one goal.
