An investigation has commenced into a video showing West Ham United star Kurt Zouma drop-kicking and slapping his cat according to reports.
SunSport reports that police officials have launched enquiries into the footage which has since gone viral across the internet space.
It was gathered that police said in a statement that “urgent enquiries” are being launched into the clip capturing the moment the Frenchman kicked and slapped the cat at his multimillion-pound mansion.
Fans have criticised the player and he has aplogised over the incident as shared by his brother Yoan on Snapchat.
What did the police say?
Essex Police confirmed as per CBS Sports:
“We are aware of a video circulating on social media relating to an incident involving a cat which members of our communities may find distressing.
“We have recently been made aware that this incident may have taken place in Essex and we are liaising with the RSPCA and urgent enquiries are ongoing.”
Surrey Police also added that they carried out a number of enquiries with the RSPCA before realising that the ordeal was not in their force area.

Meanwhile, a petition calling for the prosecution of Kurt Zouma has gone viral on the internet, with well over 70,000 signatures already, as at the time of filing this report.
The defender was in West Ham’s starting lineup in their 1-0 win over Watford and manager David Moyes is under heavy criticism for fielding the Frenchman.
