A petition calling for the prosecution of Kurt Zouma has gone viral on the internet, with well over 70,000 signatures already, as at the time of filing this report, Mirror reports.
The defender was in West Ham’s starting lineup in their 1-0 win over Watford and manager David Moyes is under heavy criticism for fielding the Frenchman.
He could be facing serious prosecution after being spotted angrily kicking and slapping his pet cat in his kitchen at his mansion.
West Ham United, in a statement, frowned at the action done by the former Chelsea star, but those in charge of the English club said they will deal with the matter internally.
Zouma has however apologised for the behaviour and he was booed a number of times during their match against Watford.
Scary footage showed the 27-year-old centre-back booting his cat across the kitchen floor and slapping the poor animal in the face at his home.
And while the Premier League star continued to torment the animal, someone believed to be his brother Yoan captured the moment as he laughed while the player tormented the animal.
SPORTbible are now reporting that Matthew Dixon took to Change.org to launch the petition for the Metropolitan Police to take action against the former Chelsea defender.
It reads:
“Professional football player Kurt Zouma was filmed horrendously abusing a defenceless animal, a crime in the UK. He should be prosecuted by the Met Police for his actions.”
The petition, which was launched on Tuesday, has already amassed 73,437 signatures at the time of writing.
Change.org revealed that crossing the 75,000-signature mark has made it one of the most-signed petitions on the platform.
