Former Stoke City forward Jese Rodriguez’s love story has taken an interesting twist as he recently proposed to his on and off girlfriend Aurah Ruiz.

According to Daily Mail, the Las Palmas winger popped the question while the couple was on holiday in Dubai, and shared images of the occasion on his Instagram.

He went on to reveal to his more than 2 million followers on Instagram that the model and influencer said yes to his question about her hand in marriage.

“Yeeeesssss I doooooooo. Those words have been the answer to the question I've most thought about in my life and your answer my baby. It's the beginning of everything,” he shared on Instagram.

“I really wanted to shout to the world that the love of my life wants to be beside me, forever, and we won't be just "her or I" but will very soon be "Us."

In the same message, the former Real Madrid and PSG star also alluded to the couple’s past problems, saying Aurah was a 'compass that guides me and the owner of my destiny'.

A turbulent relationship

The romantic proposal came barely four months after the couple made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

In October 2021, Rodriguez found himself at the centre of an explosive slice of controversy as reports from Spanish media outlets claimed Aurah had tried to run him over with a car.

This was after footage emerged of a man limping away from what seemed to be a car accident

To say Rodriguez and Ruiz have had a rocky relationship would be an understatement as the pair have publicly had explosive spats which have often made headlines.

Despite their seemingly toxic relationship, the couple somehow always find a way back to each other and more recently, they attended a concert in Gran Canaria, an island off the south coast of Spain.

The couple has a four-year-old child together.
