Egypt has sent Senegal a fiery warning after the Lions of Teranga stunned the Pharaohs to lift the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations title in Cameroon.

Senegal emerged victors in that clash after post-match penalties, with Sadio Mane, who had missed a penalty in regulation time firing his side to glory with a fine strike in the shootouts.

Egypt's chance to avenge AFCON heartache

Egypt, who were eyeing their record eight AFCON title now have a chance to avenge their Cameroon heartache when they face off against Senegal in the World Cup qualifiers.

The two nations are set to face off once again in March with a 2022 World Cup ticket at stake.

The fixture means one of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will not be playing in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Egypt's warning to Senegal

Egypt has now vowed to deny Aliou Cisse's side a ticket for the global football extravaganza.

Speaking after their AFCON final defeat, Egypt goalkeeper Gabaski warned their World Cup playoff opponents, Senegal, that the Pharaohs "never stay down for long."

Gabaski, who was fantastic for Egypt revealed his side will be doing everything within their reach to qualify for the World Cup at the expense of Senegal.

”It’s well known that we, Egypt, do not just take a fall. When we fall, we get up, even though the fact we’ve lost today makes us feel like we’re in a difficult and delicate situation," the shotstopper divulged to Goal.
“We have other challenges ahead of us next month, with the same teams involved, and if it’s God’s will, we will continue and pursue our objectives," he added.
