The Red Devils are desperate to qualify for the Champions League, with the race to play in Europe next season already heating up.

United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, and Arsenal are all in the mix for the final UCL spot, with Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea all in a pole position to seal the top three slots.

Ralf Rangnick's charges currently occupy seventh place on the Premier League standings with 35 points, just two off the top four.

The Old Trafford dwellers made a good account of themselves on Wednesday night after they hammered Brentford 3-1 to prove their credentials.

Arsenal, who sit sixth are also on 35 points having played one match less, with Spurs in fifth behind fourth-placed West Ham who have 37 points.

While speaking about the importance of the Brentford win, Rio said finishing in the top four is "an absolute must" for United.

The former England international predicted his former side have all it takes to do that as their challengers lack the stamina to go on a long winning streak.

"United are there for the top four, they've got a good run of games, they have to take points off teams around them as well," Rio said as quoted by Daily Mail.
"The saving grace is that nobody in the group under City and Liverpool can win 5-10 on the bounce, that will ebb and flow to the end of the season," he added.

Man United make EPL history

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Man United have inked their name in Premier League history books following their landmark win over Brentford on Wednesday night, January 19.

United's win saw them make history as they became the first English top-flight side to record 300 Premier League away wins.

Goals from Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood, and Marcus Rashford sealed the comfortable victory.
