Paul Onuachu who is a Super Eagles striker has recorded his name in the history books after being announced as the winner for the 2021 Belgian Golden Shoe award.

His incredible performances in the year 2021 for Belgian giants Genk helped the Super Eagles striker to land the award thereby becoming the first Nigerian to win it.

Paul Onuachu got 333 votes to win the award beating the Club Brugge duo of Noa Lang (272 votes) and Charles De Ketelaere (271 votes) according to the report on Complete Sports and Brila.

How many goals did Paul Onuachu score last year?

Last year in all the Belgian League, Paul Onuachu netted 29 goals and had already started the current campaign well with 12 goals before he got injured.

His injury also made him to miss the Super Eagles final squad for the 2021 African Cup of Nations currently going on in Cameroon.

Nigeria have also started their campaign on a winning note beating Egypt in their first game with Iheanacho netting the goal.

Nigeria will take to the pitch next on Saturday, January 15, when they file out against Sudan in a bid to seal a second-round spot after two games while Egypt will tackle Guinea-Bissau in the group’s other game.
