There is no doubt about the fact that the match will be tough for both nations considering the pedigree of players they will both parade on the pitch.

However, Sports Brief take a look at five Super Eagles players who can help Nigeria beat Egypt this evening in their AFCON opener.

And who are these Super Eagles players?

1. Taiwo Awoniyi

With Odion Ighalo and Victor Osimhen out of the AFCON for Nigeria, Taiwo Awoniyi will have the chance to show his worth up front and tell the fans that his 9 goals so far this term in Germany is not fluke.

2. Kelechi Iheanacho

Iheanacho's work rate and goalscoring touch is a plus for the three-time African champions who are without three key strikers in Cameroon and the Leicester City man is expected to shine.

3. William Troost-Ekong

Troost-Ekong's leadership qualities and experience against Liverpool's Mohamed Salah in the Premier League could help Eguavoen's men in stopping the two-time African Footballer of the Year and Egypt.

4. Joe Aribo

So far this season in the Scottish Premiership, Joe Aribo has six goals and three assists to his name after 20 games and his rugedity will help Nigeria against Egypt.

5. Wilfred Ndidi

Leicester City defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is one of the best in the Premier League and his experience will definitely help the Super Eagles against Egypt.

Ighalo Sends Stunning Message to Super Eagles Teammates Hours to Big AFCON Clash Against Egypt

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Odion Ighalo tendered an apology for his inability to be available for the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon and has wished his teammates the best of luck in the competition.

The former Manchester United striker made the Super Eagles final list for the AFCON 2021, but his club in the Saudi Arabia Al Shabab failed to release him for the showpiece.

Those in charge of Al Shabab are reported to have claimed that there is a clause in Odion Ighalo's deal with them which makes it impossible for him to play for Nigeria at this year's AFCON.
