The Betway SA20 is back to extend the party vibes into February.

To help families through the back-to-reality January slog, Cricket South Africa is offering a buffet on and off the field to feast on.

Running from January 10 until February 10, six franchises go head-to-head in a double round-robin before the IPL-style elimination playoffs.

Sixes are what T20 cricket is about and the Betway Catch R2 Million competition is back to entice the crowd every time the ball heads for the grandstands.

Supporters who take a one-handed catch throughout the Betway T20 will win a share of R2 million, with Betway account holders doubling their winnings.

To ensure the party atmosphere, live entertainers of the same calibre as the six-smashing legends on the pitch will get the crowd going one way or the other.

Beginning with Zakes Bantwini at St George's Park, other acts booked for the opening week include NV Funk, LOUFI and Kyle Deutsch

Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Joburg Super Kings take to the wicket first at St George's, with the first ball due at 17:30.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape are the defending champions after upsetting the table-topping Joburg Super Kings and Pretoria Capitals in the semi-final and final, respectively.

Sports Brief gives a quick guide to the six teams and what to expect in the opening fixtures.

Betway SA20 teams and opening fixtures

Sunrisers Eastern Cape

Home ground, Captain and Coach: St George's Park, Aiden Markram and Adrian Birrell

Players to watch: Marco Jansen, Temba Bavuma, Dawid Malan and Adam Rossington

Opening fixtures: Joburg Super Kings (Home, January 10) and Durban Super Giants (Home, January 13).

A typically late T20 surge last season got Sunrisers into the playoff. Dale Steyn will be missing this season but the squad has a balanced mix and they will be looking to hold on to their crown while everyone tries to knock it off.

Pretoria Capitals

Home Ground, Captain and Coach: Centurion, Wayne Parnell and Graham Ford

Players to watch: Jimmy Neesham, Colin Ingram, Will Jacks and Adil Rashid

Opening fixtures: Paarl Royals (Away, January 12) and Paarl Royals (Home, January 14)

The clear leaders of the pack last season inevitably chucked it in the final. Much of the squad returns and they will be desperate to right the wrongs inflicted in last season's decider.

Joburg Super Kings

Home Ground, Captain and Coach: Wanderers, Faf du Plessis and Stephen Fleming

Players to watch: Romario Shepard, Reeza Henriks, Sam Cook and Gerald Coetzee

Opening fixtures: Sunrisers Eastern Cape (Away, January 10) and MI Cape Town (Home, January 13)

Du Plessis led from the front all last season, failing only in their semi-final defeat to Sunrisers. They will be favourites again and the veteran skipper has learnt from past mistakes. He told Joburg Super Kings' media team:

"Last year we had a plan with our home ground and it was totally the opposite. When the crowd is going it is up there with one of the best atmospheres in the world."

Paarl Royals

Home Ground, Captain and Coach: Boland Park, David Miller and Shane Bond, David Miller

Players to watch: Jos Buttler, Andile Phehlukwayo, Jason Roy and Tabraiz Shamsi

Opening fixtures: Pretoria Capitals (Home, January 12) and Pretoria Capitals (Away, January 14)

A team with several England internationals, Paarl Royals were good last season but not spectacular. If a few things swing the other way in this campaign, they should improve on their four wins.

Durban Super Giants

Home ground, Captain and Coach: Kingmead, Keshav Maharaj and Lance Klusner

Players to watch: Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, Wiaan Mulder Dwyane Pretorius

Opening fixtures: MI Cape Town (Home, January 11) and Sunrisers Eastern Cape (Away, January 13)

The Super Giants were disappointing last season considering the talent in the squad. They were unlucky to miss the playoffs by a point last season and will demand more this time around.

MI Cape Town

Home Ground, Captain and Coach: Newlands, Keiron Pollard and Robin Petersen

Players to watch: Sam Curran, Dewald Brevis, Kagiso Rabada, Rassie van der Dussen

Opening fixtures: Durban Super Giants (Away, January 11) and Sunrisers Eastern Cape (Home, January 16) )

The Newlands crowd are used to winning and last season was a far cry from that standard. The squad is far too talented for a repeat so expect a dramatic turnaround in the next month.

Where to watch live?
