Brian Ochieng, Austine Okoth, Hamisi Otieno, and Erick Juma all scored for Homa Bay Combined as they displayed remarkable composure, triumphing 4-2. Alex Onchari and Vincent Wanga found the net for Kisumu County.

"I'm very happy we won this tournament. I'm overjoyed that much talent has been churned out from this tournament. Now as coaches, we have to come together and ensure they don't go to waste," a jubilant Homa Bay coach Mark Nyamache told The Nation.

Homa Bay’s Joseph Akwenda was named Most Valuable Player for his exceptional skills throughout the tournament.

The stakes were high with the promise of a face-off against the 20-time Football Kenya Federation Premier League Champions Gor Mahia.

22 players were also scouted for the tournament, The Standard reported.

ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo personally congratulated Homa Bay by awarding them a cash prize of Ksh400,000 and a trophy, recognizing their outstanding performance.

The runners-up received Ksh300,000 for their efforts, while Siaya, securing the third spot by defeating Migori 2-1 in the playoffs, walked away with Kshh200,000. Migori received a consolation prize of Sh100,000.

Other grassroots tournaments in Kenya

Sports Brief has been on the radar of several grassroots football tournaments throughout Kenya during this festive season.

Such includes the annual Malalah Super Cup, where Kisii's Kegogi FC became the centre of attention for all the wrong reasons.

In a tournament that kicked off on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, the team conceded over 30 goals in only three games.
