Nigeria Boxing Comes Alive Again As Abuchi, Ogunbunmi Win ₦1.5million Cash Prize in GOtv Boxing Night 26

The GOtv Boxing Night 26 experienced some of the best boxing bouts by fans at the Molade Okoya Indoor Sports Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos on Saturday, August 20.

Light welterweight boxers, Bartholomew Abuchi and Yusuf Ogunbunmi won ₦1.5million respectively for emerging the best boxer and runner-up in the competition.

Abuchi had emerged victorious against Samuel Adebayo also known as the “African Mayweather” by unanimous decision to be adjudged as the overall best fighter on the night.

Ogunbunmi on the other hand won the runners-up award worth ₦500,000 for his performance in the keenly contested bout against Kabiru “KB Sniper” Salawu which he won by split decision.

In the featherweight category, Taiwo “Esepor” Agbaje was in a killer mood, as he saw off his Ghanaian opponent Emmanuel “Agogo” Mensah in a dismissive fashion, knocking him out in the 7th round.

Afonja "Afonja Warrior" Rasheed failed to make a dream return to the show, as he was knocked out by Sulaiman “Armour Tank” Jafaru in their super welterweight clash.

Former GOtv Boxing champion, Stephen “Freeman” Kadima, was unable to repeat his heroics this time around as he was held to a draw by Muritador Monyashau in the national cruiserweight duel.

Ayobami "Latest" Azeez and Sodiq "Golden Boy" Oyakojo also recorded a draw while Prince “Lion” Nwoye defeated Funsho Moshood by split decision.

In the super Bantamweight division, Tosin “Soja Boy” Osagbovo knocked out Tajudeen Amusa.

₦1.5million to Be Shared at GOtv Boxing Night 26

Earlier, Sports Brief reported the winner of the 2022 GOtv Boxing Night 26 is set to receive much more money in the 2022 edition of the GOtv Boxing Night 26 scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria.

The competition which is scheduled for 20th August at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium will see two boxers share the sum of ₦1.5million.

This is in addition to the traditional cash prize of ₦1million for the winner while the runner-up, a new will go home with ₦500,000 as eight bouts are expected to take place in this year’s competition.
