Should Israel Adesanya be given another UFC title shot?

Australia’s Robert Whittaker doesn’t seem to think so.

The former Middleweight champion has weighed in on Izzy’s potential return straight into a title fight at UFC 305.

Who is Izzy fighting?

As noted by Sports Illustrated, the UFC will return to Perth for UFC 305, with Dricus du Plessis seemingly confirming that he would be defending his title at the event.

The South African took to social media to hint that he was locked in for a fight with someone - but didn’t mention their name.

"Looks like someone wants another beating in Aus [Australia]. I’m in, I also wouldn’t want to fight the King of Africa on home soil," Du Plessis posted.

While he didn’t outright mention who the opponent was, many took it to mean Adesanya.

The duo were first rumoured to be fighting at UFC 300, but Stillknocks was still not medically ready after his title win against Sean Strickland.

Has Izzy confirmed the fight?

There’s been no word yet from The Last Stylebender about whether he is the mystery opponent at UFC 305, but reports indicate that he is keen for the bout.

Whittaker shares his thoughts on title fight

Aussie MMA star, Whittaker, would have loved to have fought in front of his home fans for the belt, but instead will have to take on Khamzat Chimaev in a number one contender’s match.

That fight will take place on June 22 in Saudi Arabia.

Whittaker, who lost fights to Adesanya and Du Plessis, admitted that it hurt that Izzy was getting a shot ahead of him, Bloody Elbow reported.

"But I understand. Dricus asked for that fight - he’s the champ, he gets what he wants, and Adesanya is a draw. It seemed like that fight was going to happen," he said.

The Reaper also offered his thoughts on the bout, saying he could see both men’s path to victory on the night.

Adesanya opens up on failed fight

Sports Brief previously reported on a failed title fight between Adesanya and Du Plessis at UFC 300.

The two African fighters were due to face off for the Middleweight title in the main event of the show.

While Adesanya was keen, Du Plessis did not accept as he was still nursing injuries from his last bout.
